I'm trying to remember which pre-school my mom sign me up, I barely remember that she use to drop my off in this day care which had a big a mean BIG white metal door.

Photobucket

Well a few years later a believe my parents sign me up in the American School Of Guayaquil, well I guess all you know I'm from Ecuador "Equator", I was there from pre-school until 6 grade, unfortunately i got withdrawal from school no because I was bad. It was dam hard and I couldn't handle it all signatures in English it was too much for me.

******************************************************************************************************

Soo they decide to move me to another school, bilingual of course, imagine a kid that just got out from and American school end up in a bilingual school I got 100's in engish class, but as you can see they use to teach me basic stuff like (chair, table, pencil, paper)i was a pro on that imagine that.
Well i found out that not only was a good school but i learn the hard way in the school , kids were bad, Well i haven't tell you the name of the school, well is Liceo Cristiano de Guayaquil, Ohhh yeah it was a Christian school but those kids were no Christians at all believe me.
I had class mates that play wiji board in class, that one day OHHHHH MYYYY GOD just remember, I will never forget these day on my class mate got posses by a demon, he turn green and started to talk no-sense, well i just got goose bumps, NO LIE......
Imagine playing that in a CHRISTIAN SCHOOL.........
Well i spend 6th grade up to 7th grade until my parents decide that they want it a better life for us and move to the states, but before that my father will go to the US to see, try, convincing him that we were going to be better there. Well everything was plan.... But it something came up and we had to stay another year... Well I end up like we Spanish people say "CASA CARAJO LAND" it was the worst school a have ever been. there class room were not done, the students use to brake or make holds to the bricks to hide stuff “answer of an exams” stuff like that, the play area was more like a yarn are a pig farm, there was mud everywhere, it was not even funny been there and how they use to treat the students, I mean they use to punish the students by hitting them with a wood ruler, in the upper side of the arms. It was horrible, u were thinking if a got ever punish ohhhhhh yeah I did. LOL I wasn’t bad but I had my moments of revolt.
I just kept telling myself “This is temporary” but every day it was something in that school from fights to throwing the chairs over the fence just for the fun of it, that they decide to weld 5 to 6 school chair on a roll so they don’t even think to take them out of the class room; Guess what……. They took the whole roll and guess where it ends up the other side of the fence; they even use it as a ladder that day to escape from school.
Well my night mare end up and we move to the states in New Jersey were I did all my 4 years of High school , in one of the more coolest, scariest High School …..

Carnival festivities are one of the many manifestations of syncretism involved in Ecuadorian traditions and celebrations. The word “carnival” comes from the Italian “carn-aval”, which means absence of meat. According to the Catholic calendar, the festivities precede the period of Lent. The origin of the Carnival festivity is to compensate for the following forty days of abstention and penitence in preparation for the remembrance of Christ's crucifixion. This is a time of celebration without restraint all over the world, and Ecuador is not an exception. Many popular festivals are held throughout the country. It is a time of masks, jokes, water, music and dances.

In Ecuador, the celebrations have a history that stretches further than the arrival of Catholicism. It is known, for example, that the Huarangas Indians (from the Chimbos nation) used to celebrate the second moon of the year with a lively festivity, during which they threw flour, flowers and perfumed water. Now this pagan tradition has merged with the Catholic belief of “carnaval” and resulted in a most folkloric celebration.

All throughout the country, “diablillos” (little devils) play with water. It is a somewhat crazy game, like snow fights, which is long awaited, especially by children and teenagers, and feared by some adults. Throwing water balloons, sometimes even eggs and flour both to friends and strangers passing by the street can be a lot of fun but can also be annoying. Although the government as well as school authorities have forbidden this game, it is still widely practiced throughout the country. Historians tell of a Bishop back in 1867 that threatened with the punishment of ex-communion for the sin of playing Carnival games.

Many popular festivities are held in different regions of the country, where the locals wear disguises with colorful masks and dance to the rhythm of lively music. Usually, the celebrations begin with the election of the Taita Carnaval (Father Carnaval) who will head the festivities and lead the parades in each city. The most famed carnival festivities are those in Guaranda (Bolivar province) and Ambato (Tungurahua province). In Ambato, the festivities are called “Fiesta de las Flores y las Frutas” (Festivities of the Flowers and Fruits). Other cities have also revived the carnival traditions with colorful parades; such is the case of Azogues (Cañar Province), where a lively parade will take place on Friday, February 16th. In Azogues and the Southern Andes in general, the “Taita Carnaval” is a Cañari Indian dressed for the celebrations.

Carnival is a holiday throughout the country. This year there will be a long weekend from Saturday, February 17th to Tuesday, February 20th. Many people from the main cities go to the beach or other tourist sites around the country.

Don't be surprised if a water balloon hits you. Don't feel offended; it's just a game. Ecuador is a country full of surprises!!

Just another Ecuadorian Celebration
....
On new Years, one of the popular traditions in Ecuador is the traditional "Quema del Ano Viejo" which means Burning of the Old Year. Many people start to design and create these dummies (Anos Viejos) late november, which are made from paper or wood and filled with a lot of fireworks and explosives.

The imagination go beyond the limits at the time to create these dummies; You can find everything from goverment people to the most popular cartoons and sport personalities. This is considered an art and as you see in the pictures, people make a living of this. At midnight neighbors, family and friends get together to say farewell to the old year by burning them on the streets.
